# Step 8: Select a Type of Data Analysis

- With your research method and data collection method in mind, select a type of data analysis; for example:
- Quantitative
- This type of data (nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio) that you collect will help you determine which of the following statistical analyses you should use:
- Descriptive (describes the data)
- Frequency, mean, median, mode, range, variance, standard deviation

- Inferential (for comparisons, correlations, regressions) including but not limited to:
- t-test
- ANOVA
- Chi-square
- Kruskal-Wallis
- Pearson r
- Spearman rank
- Kendall tau
- Linear regression
- Multiple regression

- Qualitative
- Identify themes
- Generate categories
- Compose a narrative
